about.
Phöebe is a Psychologist, multi-disciplinary artist, performer, model + internationally certified intuitively led yoga teacher with eight years of experience working in NGOs, supporting vulnerable adults, children, + communities across the globe.
After years of supporting people, I realised that my work was only addressing surface issues. Having experienced the transformative power of yoga in my own life, I decided to shift my focus to helping others heal more deeply.
I first discovered yoga at 21 when I was struggling with depression + social anxiety but didn’t have the words, or confidence, to reach out to anyone. I was studying my undergrad in Social Sciences at Brighton University + read somewhere about the incredible impact yoga has on our mental + physical health. So, I went to my first class completely unaware of the intense feelings that would come bubbling to the surface.
As Bessel van der Kolk shows us in The Body Keeps the Score, what we don’t express is suppressed + held in the body, + I was not prepared for the deep feelings my body was holding onto.
"Yoga" comes from the Sanskrit yuj, meaning to unite body, mind, + soul through movement, breath, + stillness. Research now shows the incredible benefits this ancient has on both mental + physical health (read more here).
What are emotions?
Biologically, they are chemicals stored in the body. In Western society, we’re often encouraged to suppress our emotions, which means these chemicals can get stuck.
Tantric philosophy, now supported by science, teaches that we are made of atoms that originated in the stars, each vibrating at a unique frequency. To elevate this frequency, we must consciously feel our thoughts + emotions. Using movement + Pranayama (breathwork) helps release stuck emotions + restore balance to the nervous system.
The aim of my practice is to make you fall in love with your body again. To move through any thoughts + feelings that have been weighing you down by adding a little playfulness + curiosity to your movement.
Discovering yoga has been life changing for me. It’s helped me overcome depression, grief, social anxiety, addiction, + chronic fatigue. It’s taught me how to manage my dyspraxia whilst strengthening my relationships + creativity.
Over the past eight years, I’ve developed my own yoga + movement practice, incorporating music tuned to specific frequencies that soothe the body’s energetic release. Music encourages intuitive movement, allowing us to explore our boundaries, get curious + creative with our bodies, + heal through movement + play.
